Handgun 1 Course

Handgun one is a basic handgun orientation course for both new shooters just starting as well as experienced shooters who want to tighten their shot group built around the HST Firearms Program.

Hyde Syte Tactics is continuously focusing on a safety-first mentality. In the process of crafting life’s defense, a proper orientation or introduction should be conducted prior to advancing to the next stage of training, especially with the use of firearms. This practice is known as the crawl, walk, run methodology of training. This method builds, sustains and enhances the fundamentals from the ground up.

Firearms familiarization and handling should not be taken lightly. Typically, new users don’t want to look inexperienced and experienced shooters sometimes become complacent. Either way, this is a common factor when accidents or negligence transpires. Being given a proper orientation to specific firearms, allows handlers to fully know the firearms in which they are using. Picking up an unfamiliar firearm could be catastrophic on the range, in the woods or self-defense.

Hyde Syte Tactics has put together a comprehensive orientation to the handgun and its use. In a classroom environment, instructors will focus on the familiarization of the firearm, loading and unloading, the basic fundamentals of shooting and last but definitely not least the fundamentals of safety.

Instructors and staff from Hyde Syte will guarantee a safe comfortable training environment and instill a confidence with the use of the handgun. Handgun One Orientation Course is designed for the beginner, but everyone needs to eventually go back to the basics. Allow Hyde Syte to introduce this crawl phase of your firearms skills and begin Crafting Life’s Defense.

Firearms will be provided for this training. Students registering for this class may bring their own firearm with coordination with Hyde Syte. This is a classroom course and no live ammunition should be brought into the class. There will NOT be any live fire shooting at this class.

The Four Basic Rules of Firearm Safety:

  1. Handle all firearms as if they were loaded! NEVER forget that the gun has the potential to produce serious injury or death in a single instant of carelessness. Make safe gun handling a habit to be followed at all times. After you determine a gun is unloaded, continue to handle it as though it were loaded.
  2. Always keep your firearm pointed in a safe direction! In selecting a safe direction, you must also take into consideration that a bullet can ricochet or glance off any object it strikes, and that bullets can penetrate walls, ceilings, floors and windows.
  3. Keep you finger out of the gun’s trigger guard and off the trigger until you have aligned the gun’s sights on a safe target and you have made the decision to fire! By keeping your finger completely outside the trigger guard until you have aimed at the target, you guarantee that any shots you fire will go safely in the direction of your intended target.
  4. Always be certain that your target and the surroundings area are safe before firing! Remember that a bullet can travel as much as several miles, so you should be certain of what your bullet could strike before you pull the trigger. Never fire at movement, a noise, a flash of color, or a rustling bush without positively identifying your target.
